If you were happy with the size of your breasts prior to pregnancy and are merely looking to make them appear firmer, a breast lift is for you.

After pregnancy and lactation, the usual complaint of women about their breasts is that they are saggy, limp and smaller than they used to be prior to having a baby.

The level of sagginess for different women may vary; some would notice that the nipples have dropped below the crease, while in extreme cases, the nipples may actually point toward the floor. In either case, breast lifts would be the ideal post pregnancy cosmetic procedure to correct the problem.

Breast lifts don’t actually change the volume of the breasts, although they may appear fuller and perkier after the surgery. Unlike with breast enlargement, breast lifts don’t involve the use of implants to enlarge the breasts.

The breasts are reshaped by repositioning the nipples, removing the excess skin, and “lifting” the mound of breast tissue.

Breast lifts usually involve making a circular incision around the nipples and two lines leading down to the crease. The nipples are then repositioned higher up on the breast and the saggy skin removed. Then the skin is sewn back together, tightening it while at the same repositioning the mound of breast tissue higher.
