
Dr Rome graduated from the University of Sydney in 1999 with a first-class honours medical degree, also winning the George Allen Prize in that final year. Since then, he has dedicated his training to the pursuit of a surgical career gaining experiences in general surgery, cardiothoracic surgery, and transplant surgery. In 2003 Dr Rome began his specialty training in plastic and reconstructive surgery and in 2007 was awarded a Fellowship in this specialty by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
Looking to further his training, Dr Rome undertook an optional further 6 month fellowship overseas where he had a chance to work with leading experts in microsurgical reconstruction and aesthetic and hand surgery. This fellowship was spent principally in Barcelona, Spain, at the Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau and Clinica Planas however he also attended several European meetings during this time.
Currently Dr Rome holds Visiting Medical Officer appointments at both Concord and Royal Prince Alfred Hospitals in Sydney where he performs major reconstructive procedures and is involved in the training of future plastic and reconstructive surgeons. He is also accredited to operate at Sydney Day Surgery, Hunter's Hill Hospital and
St Lukes Hospital.

Dr Rome is a keen traveller, bass guitarist, and photographer.
