Dermal Fillers are a non-surgical cosmetic option if you want to reverse the signs of aging or enhance certain features.Pure Aesthetics It is important to know the difference between Anti-wrinkle Injections and Dermal Fillers. Anti-Wrinkle Injections works by relaxing specific muscles, preventing signs of aging from occurring. Common sites include frown lines and crow’s feet.  Dermal fillers on the other hand, rejuvenate via plumping up the tissues under the skin which helps to fill in any visible lines and wrinkles that you have developed.  What is great is that it is minimally invasive, with little or no down time and in most cases you can continue on about your usual routine.

Dermal Fillers are commonly made from collagen or hyaluronic acid that help plump and rejuvenate the skin tissues which help fill in lines and wrinkles, and augment the soft tissue so that any signs of aging are less visible or eliminated. Wrinkles around the eyes, nose, and mouth area are softened, skin depressions are filled in and scars can also be minimized. Lip Fillers and other facial areas, such as cheeks can be augmented and enhanced to provide fullness and volume. Dermal fillers can even be used as a non-surgical method of nose reshaping!

Whilst most dermal fillers are not a permanent fix, they can last between 6-18 months, with their tenure depending on the product used, the placement of the product, and your unique skin and tissue considerations. What is great is that results can be seen instantly, where as plastic surgery may require days or weeks of recovery time. A local anesthetic may be provided before the injections are given, with some products, already incorporating a local anaesthetic in the product. Time required and the cost of cosmetic injectables will depend on your specific needs and amount of product required

After having treatment with Dermal Fillers there are some precautions that you should take. Avoid applying any makeup for around 12 hours if possible. This will keep the injection site clean and help prevent any infection or inflammation in the areas where the cosmetic procedures were performed. Avoiding extreme temperatures for a week or so, and avoiding any alcohol for 24 hours after the procedure will ensure the best healing.

If you feel you could do with a little facial enhancement and rejuvenation, you should have a thorough consult with an expert on cosmetic procedures, such as Sydney Plastic Surgeon Dr Steve Merten or our Cosmetic Physician. This consultation can help you determine which one of the various dermal fillers will work best for your specific complaints, as well as give you an idea of what results you can expect. It is important to have realistic expectations before you have any plastic surgery or cosmetic procedure performed.
